Due to the rain off at Great Eccleston show, our only other event of the year was at Great Eccleston for the BTPA finals. A disappointing class of under 401 prostocks, due to a lot of breakage to a number of machines, was won by Red Mist who also took the BTPA championship. True Blue finished in 4th place, after breakage within the first 20m. Although the engine was still running fine there was no drive whatsoever.
We initially thought that it was the dual power which was slipping, but after trying the tractor back home in high dual the result was the same. The tractor was split and and the problem was soon found. The dual power had failed in spectacular fashion and had to be removed with a brush and bucket in hundreds of pieces! Roll on 2012!!

After changes over the winter every one was waiting to see how True Blue would perform at the first run down the track. The new Turbo supplied by CABO turbos from the Netherlands proved to be just what we were looking for, and True Blue made the first full pull of the under 401ci prostock class.
Only one other tractor got a full pull, and in the pull off it was True Blue to run first. Sadly it began to rain just as the pull off started, which gave True Blue a slightly dryer surface to pull on. Red Mist was the other tractor in the pull off, but the rain came down heavier as the International was making its run. Red Mist struggled to find grip on the slippy surface, which left True Blue with first place, albeit with a slight weather advantage!
The last pull of the season was held at Great Eccleston where True Blue unfortunately couldnt make it 4 wins out of 4 but managed to take 2nd place in the most competitive round of the year!
The tractor was in the closed pits as the first class was ran when we went to warm the engine up, and discovered the battery was flat! After swapping batteries with one on the lorry we got the tractor started and warmed up. When it came to our run we went to fire True Blue back up only to discover it had managed to flatten another battery, or so we thought. We dropped to last in the class to give us some time to try and get the tractor started. It was then found that the battery wasnt earthing properly. This was soon remedied and True Blue was fired into life where we made it into the pull off.
4 tractors made it into the pull off where Skipper had a storming run to set the distance to beat of 106.58m. We had a good run in the pull off but came up short of the winning distance, with a run of 104.78m, which put us in 2nd place.
Overall we were very happy with the way the tractor had run on the day and over the course of the season. Already discussions have been under way on ways to improve the tractor for next season where we hope we can have another competitive (and reliable) year.

True Blue makes it three wins out of three events at Great Eccleston Show to win the British Championship with one event to go!
The under 401ci Prostock class was the first class to pull on a very wet Sunday. The rain never really stopped all morning but we were told it would clear long enough to get all the classes pulled. Finally the rain stopped and the track was worked to give a track that we could pull on. At the drivers meeting we had been told that it would be a floating finish, so basically one hook. True Blue was test puller and despite not getting locked into the track as well as we would have liked, managed to pull to 100.49m, which we were satisfied with and kept that run. This proved to be the right decision as the rain was always threatening to come on for the whole class, but managed to stay off just about long enough. The other tractors in the class either had mechanical issues on the line or failed to get a right grip of the track meaning our distance was enough to take first place home with us.

True Blue makes it 2 wins out of 2 at Kirkbride. We left home on friday evening to have time on saturday morning to fix the small amount of damage from the Shakey Pull. After cutting out the bent support bracket at the front we bolted in two stronger bars to help strengthen the front.
The track was in excellent condition when the pulling started and had plenty of grip in it. There were 4 full pulls in our class, and we were the last ones to run in the pull off. Skipper ran just before us and went storming out the end again, so we knew we would have to match him. True Blue managed to get another full pull but the decision was made to have another pull off on sunday morning, as the tractors were hot from 2 good runs. For sunday mornings pull off we filled the intercooler with 3 bags of ice cubes and around 30litres of water. Skipper managed a great run of 91.16m on a tough sledge setting which we did not think we would quite be able to catch. True Blue left the line well and got locked into the track early and up to speed, which to our disbelief helped us drag the sledge beyond the checkered flag to take the win!
After the run we checked the intercooler pipes and noticed a massive difference in temperature, so it looks like we will need a supple of ice cubes from now on!!

True Blue wins at the first ever Shakey Super Pull with the only full pull of the class to take first. It was the first run with the intercooler fitted so we were keen to see the effect it would have. After a slightly longer than normal run the tractor managed to get the sledge out the end, where we checked the temperature of the inlet and outlet pipes from the intercooler and noticed there was a massive drop in temperature!
On the sunday there was a test and tune day where we decided to run again but this time without water injection on. The tractor again ran strong so the decision has been made to run without water injection from now on. The only downside was a slight bend to the front of the chassis, after lightening the front end we have lost a lot of strength which we will be fixing for the next event at Kirkbride.
The Shakey Super Pull was an excellent event and we are all looking forward for the chance to compete there again next year!
